Sri Lanka: Meow Meow & Tiger Cat
I first discovered Meow Meow, or Mama as she came to be known, last year while wandering around the tropical gardens that surround our home. Partially hidden amongst the trees, her busted nose and broken teeth an unusual setting for her piercing green eyes and a stark contrast to her impending pregnancy. I fed her from our stash of chorizo and anchovies while blackface monkeys watched greedily from the coconut palms above. One by one three kittens emerged from the undergrowth

Marley
Marley is a beautiful black and white Moggy who came for a stay of just a few days. Blind since birth and only able to distinguish shadows he was alarmed at finding himself in new surroundings. Less than amused at having to navigate new territory he meowed his protest loudly. Nudging himself into a corner after his owner and confidante had left, he clearly preferred the wall to me. But unable to resist an adventure he was soon pointing his nose skyward and sniffing the air

Laima Christmas 2015
Laima, a quirky little cat with a permanently furrowed brow and a stripy coat, arrived early one morning with her two owners in tow. Perplexed at this latest turn of events, she eyed me suspiciously. Her day had begun normally and then without warning she'd been bundled into her carrier, and now found herself sitting in the middle of my front room. She decided to make a thorough search of the premises before she could even think about breakfast. Inch by inch she did a slow

Luna October 2015
At 16 years old Luna is a spritely little thing with a fluffy coat, delicately painted nose, a croaky meow and a killer a stare. Although her demeanour is gentle her face conveys a range of expressions that go from slightly miffed to completely incensed, whilst journeying through perplexed, indignant and absolutely affronted. After spending three days with her it is still a mystery to me how she manages to do all this without moving a muscle. Luna is only truly happy when mun

Honey Anderson
I have yet to work out if Honey, the honey coloured Burmese that is staying with me at the moment really thinks he can fly or just has a terrible sense of balance. His owners upon meeting me warned of his propensity to fall ( or dive) out of very high windows, (a couple of times landing unscathed in a conveniently placed swimming pool) so I knew what to expect. On the first day after his owners had dropped him off Honey let out a few theatrical miaows for their benefit then

Uni
Always a little bit shy, Uni is definitely a cautious cat. When I’ve visited her in her own home she has tucked herself away beneath the bed until she hears the clatter of food. She was like that here at first, hiding in the little cat bed at the far end of the living room her pupils huge, and alert. When she did venture out her back was slung low to the ground and if I approached her directly she would immediately run for her life disappearing behind or underneath the first
Uni stretches her neck
I went to visit the beautiful Uni today and we had a game of catch the feather- of course Uni won! #fluffypaws #professionalcatcuddler #nottinghillcatboarding

The Idiosyncratic Kittys
Wrapping Paper Wrapping a parcel yesterday with Pandora and Chicken at close hand quickly descended into a farce. Firstly I had to print the label, which was tricky enough with Pandora standing right in front of the computer and her bushy tail floating up to obscure the top left hand corner where the print button is. When I finally managed to manoeuvre the mouse around her body and brushed her bushy tail aside to press and print the label she stuck her nose in the bit of the

Comfy Cats (Pandora and Chicken)
I woke this morning to the gentle motion of little feet trotting across the bed. I knew who it was immediately because as her pace quickened I detected the bambi like spring in the step that is unique to Chicken. I was just thinking this when she landed full bodied on the calf of my right leg and wrapped her fluffy paws around it. I twisted around just in time to see Chicken collapse, sideways onto the bed, before bouncing back up and springing out of sight. She appeared aga

Medicine Time
Sway arrived with a mysterious inch long cut on the back of his right leg. The vet has supplied some medicine but being such a fluffy thing it’s hard to locate the exact position of the cut, and being a relative stranger the first couple of times I bathed and put gel on Sways wound, were a little tricky. I held Sway gently but firmly from behind and dabbed the cotton soaked wool onto where I imagined the wound was. He’d soon wiggle out of my grip and I certainly don’t want to

Sway the Siberian
Sway arrived on Monday evening with his owner Mark. We had met previously, Sway and I, when his co-owner Agnes brought him round to my place to check it, and I suppose me, out. Luckily and unusually I had no other cat guests and Sway was free to wander around the flat while Agnes and I watched him explore. The creature that emerged from Mark’s basket looked like Sway but seemed so much bigger. First one huge soft fluffy paw emerged and then his little pink nose, outlined in b
